Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered serious injuries following a report of an assault in the area of Granby Street, Leicester, yesterday (Saturday).
Police were called just after 5.20pm to a car park in Alfred Place, off Granby Street, where a man was found with serious injuries.
East Midlands Ambulance Service were also in attendance and the man, who is in his 50s, was taken to hospital where he currently remains.
A 41-year-old man, of Leicester, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident. He has since been released on police bail.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
Detective Sergeant Doug Simpson said: “We are carrying out a number of enquiries to fully establish the events which have led up to this incident and a man being seriously injured. This includes checking CCTV and speaking to witnesses in the area.
“We would ask that anyone who has any information, and who has not yet spoken to us, makes contact with us. Were you in the area yesterday afternoon? Did you see or hear anything? Do you have any CCTV or dashcam footage which may hold information that could help our enquiries?
“If you have any information at all, please get in touch.”
