A man who died after being assaulted in Tudor Road has been named by police.
Dumitru-Nicolae Cherascu, known as “Nicu” to his family, was found unconscious with serious head injuries at 11.30pm on Tuesday (29 November).
The 42-year-old, from Leicester, was taken to hospital but died on Friday evening (2 December).
Following his death, detectives launched a murder investigation.
One man, 41-year-old Marian Botea, has been charged with murder and will appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday 5 December).
Dumitru’s family are being supported by specially trained officers at this time.
In a statement, they said: “Nicu was a much-loved father, husband, brother and uncle and he will be dearly missed by those who knew him. We must now try to come to terms with what has happened so we can begin to grieve this awful loss.”
