Shortly before 10.45pm yesterday (Boxing Day/Monday 26 December) police were informed by the East Midlands Ambulance Service that a man had been assaulted and had suffered a serious head injury.
He was taken to hospital, with potentially life-threatening injuries. He is continuing to receive treatment and remains in a critical condition.
This morning (Tuesday) two men aged 41 and 29 have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. They remain in custody.
Detective Sergeant George Fraser, from the Complex Investigation Team (CIT) said: “While we’ve made two arrests, our investigation into this incident is continuing today and I’d like to speak to any witnesses who have not yet contacted police.
“Given the time and location in which this incident occurred, I know there will have been people who were out and saw what happened.
“Any information you have – including dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage – could help.”
