Officers are appealing for dashcam footage following a serious collision in Blackbird Road, Leicester, last night (Tuesday).
Just after 6pm, a black Jaguar F-Pace SUV left the road while travelling towards the city, and hit a woman walking on the path.
The air ambulance landed at the scene, but the woman was taken to the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire by land ambulance. She remains in hospital in a critical condition.
There have been no arrests.
DS Ed Des-Chenelle from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is leading on the investigation to ascertain what happened. He said: “There has been an extensive trawl of the CCTV in the area, but any footage from vehicles that were travelling in the area at the time of the collision may help our investigation.
“We also know that there was a man who was walking in the opposite direction of the woman, and who narrowly avoided being hit by the car.
“He wasn’t spoken to by police as he left the scene, but we would like to speak to him – he may have information about what happened.”
If you can help, please call 101 quoting incident number 461 of 13 December.
