A 17-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving following a collision in Nottingham Road, Loughborough, on Friday afternoon (1 July).
Police were called at 2.38pm to the incident which involved a pedestrian and what is believed to be an electric bicycle. The collision happened in Nottingham Road near the junction with Morley Street.
East Midlands Ambulance Service were also in attendance and the pedestrian, who is in his 80s, was taken to hospital where he currently remains with serious injuries.
The cyclist was reported to have left the scene following the incident.
An appeal for further information in connection with the incident was issued by police on Saturday morning.
Yesterday (Sunday), a 17-year-male was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving in connection with the incident. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Detective Constable Maggie Langton said: “Our enquiries remain very much ongoing and we continue to appeal to anyone with any information to make contact with us, if you have not already done so.
“Please think back to if you were in the area on Friday afternoon and if you witnessed the incident or if you saw the vehicle or pedestrian beforehand. If you have any dashcam footage from the area at the time, you should also check this and contact us.
“Thank you to everyone who has provided information to us so far to assist with our enquiries.”
