Detectives are appealing for the victim of a reported serious sexual assault in Leicester to make contact with officers.
Shortly before 8.30pm yesterday (Monday 7 March), a report was received from a third party that an offence had taken place in Great Central Way, Leicester.
The person making the report said it had been disclosed by a female victim at the scene. The victim and a male suspect were both reported to have left the area prior to officers arriving.
Extensive searches have been carried out in the area and enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the incident are continuing. A scene preservation remains in place in the area at this time.
Detective Inspector Simon Preston, from the force’s Signal team, said: “Our investigation to understand what happened is continuing today and I would encourage anyone with information about this incident to come forward.
“Particularly, I would like to speak to the victim and urge her to get in touch. If you are that person, please be reassured we have specially-trained officers who will be able to offer appropriate support and advice.
“If you do not wish to speak to police, I would encourage you to contact Juniper Lodge, the specialist sexual assault referral centre, who are also able to help you.”
