Detectives are investigating an incident in which a car collided with a man in the Highfields area of Leicester this morning (Monday 28 March).
Police were called to Welland Street at around 2.15am following a report that a man had been injured.
Officers attended and were told that a car – a Vauxhall Grandland – had been driven at the victim. The driver of the Vauxhall had left the area prior to police arriving.
The victim, who is in his 20s, was taken to hospital to be treated for potentially life-changing injuries.
This morning a 62-year-old man from Leicester was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has since been released on bail.
Detective Inspector Rob Arthur, from the force’s Complex Investigation Team (CIT), said: “As our investigation is ongoing, I would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened. I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who was driving in the area early this morning and who has a dashcam in their vehicle.
“I’d also ask anyone in the area who has CCTV or a doorbell camera to come forward. Anything you’re able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could help.”
