An appeal for witnesses has been issued after an officer was injured when a vehicle he was pursuing reversed into the police car in Copt Oak, Leicestershire, at the weekend.
Sometime after 3.10pm yesterday (Sunday 6 November) officers spotted a vehicle on cloned plates in the Loughborough area. They followed the vehicle and a controlled pursuit was authorised in Copt Oak.
The suspect vehicle, a silver Land Rover Freelander, stopped in Old House Lane and then deliberately reversed into the police car.
Two officers were in the vehicle, one sustained injuries and was discharged from hospital after treatment. The second officer was not injured.
The two suspects drove off from the scene and were later arrested in the Copt Oak Road area of Markfield.
The two arrested, a 17-year-old youth and 20-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH). They have since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the Land Rover in the Loughborough or Copt Oak area. They are especially keen to obtain any footage that may have been captured on phones or in-car recording equipment.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 4098 Joseph Mulvany on 101, quoting crime number 22*649689.
