A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of assault following an incident in Severn Road, Oadby, earlier this week.
Police received a report on Monday (31 October) informing that a 15-year-old boy had been assaulted earlier that afternoon. It was reported he had been hit with what is believed to be a glass bottle.
The boy attended hospital following the incident where he received treatment. He has since been discharged.
Enquiries are being carried out by officers and a 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assault earlier this week. He has since been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
Inspector Liz Perry, Neighbourhood Policing Area Commander for Harborough and Wigston, said: “We are fully investigating this incident and are working with the victim and his family.
“We are aware of some reports on social media in relation to the incident. From our enquiries, we can confirm we are not treating this incident as hate crime-related.
“Please ensure you are only sharing information which you know to be true and please be reassured that we are carrying out full enquiries and providing full support to those involved following this incident.”
