Detectives are investigating a report of assault in Glen Parva – and are appealing for the driver of a van who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
It happened at around 8pm on Tuesday (4 April), in Gilmorton Avenue.
A man in his 50s reported that he had been in the street when he was punched in the face by another man. Officers attended and a 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm without intent and causing actual bodily harm. He has since been released on bail.
Detective Constable Stacey Jones, from Braunstone CID, is the investigating officer. She said: “From enquiries carried out so far, I know that a white car driving along Gilmorton Avenue had to stop as both men were in the road.
“I’d like to speak to the driver about what they saw. If you’re that person, please get in touch as you may be able to provide information that could help. Likewise, I’d like to speak to anyone who was in Gilmorton Avenue and witnessed the incident.”
