Detectives from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after a fatal collision in Blaby.
Police were called to the scene in Hospital Lane at 8.50am today (Sunday 2 April) following the discovery of a black Vauxhall Vectra that had left the road.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and the East Midlands Ambulance Service were also in attendance.
The driver of the car – a man in his 40s – was pronounced dead at the scene. His family are currently being supported by specially trained officers.
Detective Sergeant Lisa Wood from the SCIU said: “The vehicle appears to have been travelling along Hospital Lane towards Blaby at the time of the incident.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area between 8.40am and 9.10am and may have seen the Vectra. Anyone with dash cam footage is also urged to come forward as you may have captured something useful to our investigation.”
Anyone with information or footage is asked to call police on 101 or report online, quoting incident number 163 of 2 April.
