A man who died following an assault in Gower Street, Leicester, has been named as Craig Maposa.
Around 7pm on Sunday 6 August, police were informed Mr Maposa had been admitted to hospital after being found unresponsive at his home in the Eyres Monsell area of Leicester.
He appeared to have suffered a serious head injury which was believed could have been caused by an assault.
Detectives immediately began to investigate and following a number of enquiries it was established an assault had taken place shortly after 5.30am on Saturday 5 August in Gower Street, Leicester.
Despite best efforts of medical staff, the 26-year-old’s life support was withdrawn on Tuesday (8 August).
Mr Maposa’s family have released the following words in tribute to him: “We are heartbroken at the tragic loss of Craig and ask for privacy while we try to come to terms with what has happened.
“As police continue to investigate Craig’s death, we appeal or anyone who has information which may help to please contact the investigation team.”
Two men, aged 27 and 30, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in police custody.
