Investigation ongoing following fatal collision in Kegworth

An investigation is ongoing following a fatal collision in Station Road, Kegworth, this morning (Thursday).
Police were called to the area at 4.45am following a report that a van had collided into a fence.
East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance.
Sadly, the driver of the van, a man in his 70s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Following initial enquiries, it is believed the driver suffered a medical episode.
No other passengers are believed to have been in the vehicle and no other injuries have been reported.
From enquiries at the scene, it is understood minor damage was caused to a parked car in the incident.
Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the collision.
Officers are appealing to anyone with any information regarding the collision to make contact.
Sergeant Joel Tarplin said: “A man has sadly died following this collision and officers are providing support to his family.
“The incident happened early this morning. If you were in the area at this time, please think back to anything you may have seen and get in touch with us if you have any information. If you have any dashcam footage from the area, please also make contact with us.”
