Man sustains serious injuries after assault in city centre

Officers are appealing for witnesses after a man sustained serious leg injuries after an incident outside a bar in the city.

The incident took place around 5.15am on Sunday (7 May) outside The Courtyard Bar in Church Gate when the 41-year-old victim was involved in an altercation.

He was subsequently assaulted and was treated at hospital for his injuries.

Two men, aged 29 and 35, were arrested on suspicion of Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) and released on bail pending further enquiries.

There were a number of people in the area at the time who may have witnessed what happened.
