A peaceful protest has continued at Meridian Business Park today (Sunday).
The number of people at the protest site is around 40 people. All those present are engaging in peaceful protest and no further arrests have been made.
Today we have issued new Section 14 conditions around the protest site. This is in order to take into account for the decreased number of protesters and to ensure that disruption to local businesses and people is kept to a minimum. As a result the area of protest has been reduced and we will be able to open one of the half of the road to allow vehicles through safely.
The Section 14 conditions still state that nothing can be erected (such as tents) at the location and the policing operation continues.
Assistant Chief Constable Adam Streets said: “We continue to work with the protesters and it remains peaceful at the site. By reducing the area we have designated to the protesters we are able to keep everyone safe whilst reducing disruption, particularly to local businesses and residents in the local area who have been very patient throughout the policing operation.
We will continue to engage with everyone involved and I am grateful to all of our staff who are continuing to work throughout this weekend.”
