Today (10 May), officers policing the protest at Meridian Park, Braunstone arrested two people on suspicion of breaching the Section 14 legislation. This brings the total arrests to 43.
At approx. 9 am this morning, a man drove a vehicle up to the gate of the businesses premises, then he and a woman locked themselves on to a vehicle. As a result the Protester Removal Team moved in and safely removed both protesters from the site and they were both arrested.
The man, aged 61, and woman, aged 31, were arrested on suspicion of breaching Section 14 of the Public Order Act and the man was also arrested on suspicions of conspiracy to cause criminal damage. They remain in custody.
In addition, renewal of the Section 14 conditions have been implemented in order to reduce the footprint of the protest area. This smaller protest area and the new conditions will remain in place until 15 May but will be reviewed regularly.
The policing operation continues at the site to minimise disruption and we continue to engage with our partners and local businesses.
