A 74-year-old man has been arrested in Shepshed in connection with the murder of Michele Faiers in Italy.
The man – who is a British national – was arrested on suspicion of murder last night (Wednesday 1 November) and remains in custody.
Detectives from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) are in contact with both Italian police and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office concerning the death of Ms Faiers, 66.
Detective Inspector David Greenhalgh, from EMSOU, said: “We are continuing to work with authorities both in the United Kingdom and Italy regarding this incident.
“Ms Faiers’ family have asked for privacy at this time and I would ask that this is respected.”
