Enquiries are continuing following a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on the M1 northbound yesterday afternoon (Saturday).
Police were called at 1.23pm to the collision near junction 21A which involved a silver Yamaha motorcycle and a blue Vauxhall Meriva.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital where he currently remains with serious injuries.
The driver of the car, a woman, was also taken to hospital. She has since been discharged.
Another man, aged 20, has been arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation.
Enquiries remain ongoing into the incident to establish the full circumstances of the collision.
Detective Constable Hal Kinsey, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man remains in hospital with serious injuries and our investigation remains ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the collision.
“We are carrying out a number of enquiries and continue to appeal to anyone with any information to make contact with us.
“There was heavy traffic on the M1 at the time of the incident. Anyone who saw the collision or the vehicles travelling beforehand is asked to get in touch with us if you have not already done so. Similarly, if you have any dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident, please also check this and make contact.”
