Detectives are appealing for information following a robbery in Wigston Lane yesterday (Sunday 25 August).
The incident happened shortly before 11am and started at the junction of Wigston Lane and Aylestone Road. A BMW motorcycle stopped in front of a cash collection van, causing it to brake. A black Nissan Navara then collided with the rear of the van.
The occupants – two men in their 30s and 40s – were then attacked, with one being sprayed with an unknown substance. They were forced into the back of the van and demanded the keys to the safe. However, they were not able to gain access and the three suspects left the scene in the Nissan and on the motorcycle. The victims did not suffer serious injuries.
Detective Inspector Jenny Tattersall said: “Our investigation into this incident is continuing today and we know from enquiries carried out so far that there were a lot of people who saw what happened.
“I’m particularly keen to speak to any motorists with dashcams or anyone who filmed the incident on a mobile phone but has not yet spoken to us.
“Any details you’re able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think they are, could be important.”
