Detectives are investigating a report that a man was assaulted in a leisure centre car park – and are appealing for anyone who was there to come forward.
Last Friday (26 July) a report was received from a third-party that a man was being assaulted by a group of men in the car park, off Knighton Lane East, between 2.55pm and 4.20pm. The person making the report told police that the man was made to get into a silver or grey Mercedes saloon, which then drove off. It is believed some of the men also got into a black saloon – possibly a Volkswagen Passat – which also left the area.
No-one has come forward to report being a victim of a crime and no arrests have been made.
Detective Constable Claire Francis, from the Complex Investigation Team (CIT), said: “Since this incident was reported, a number of enquiries have been undertaken which has included reviewing CCTV footage in the area.
“We believe there may have been a group of teenagers in the car park who saw what happened and I’d encourage them to come forward as they may have information that could help us.
“I’d also ask anyone else who was in the car park but who has not yet contacted police to get in touch. I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who was drove in or out and has a dashcam in their vehicle, or anyone who filmed the incident on a mobile phone. Anything you’re able to provide could help.”
