A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and conspiracy to commit murder following the death of a man at HMP Fosse Way.
A 20-year-old man, who is an inmate at the prison, was arrested yesterday morning (Friday 23 August). He has since been released under investigation.
Police were contacted on Tuesday after a 31-year-old man, who was an inmate at the prison, was found unresponsive in his cell.
East Midlands Ambulance Service attended. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Three men have been charged with murder in connection with the incident.
Shaan Karim, 38, Thierry Robinson, 21, and Ashirie Smith, 18, appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court yesterday where they were remanded into custody and are due to appear at Leicester Crown Court on Tuesday 27 August.
