A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after he was assaulted in South Leicester this evening (Tuesday 17 December).
Around 6.15pm the victim, a man in his 40s, was in a house in Clifton Road when he heard a disturbance in a neighbouring property. He went outside to have a look and was confronted by three men coming out of the house.
They chased him into Lansdowne Road where he was assaulted with a baseball bat. The victim tried to flag down a passing motorist whose car was also attacked by the suspects. No one was injured in the car.
The victim was taken to hospital suffering from a head injury and fractures to his leg. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The suspects made off on foot. They have been described as being of Eastern European appearance, in their late 20s to early 30s, about 5ft 6ins tall, of stocky build, with beards and short black hair. They were wearing dark clothing.
Lansdowne Road remains closed from Saffron Lane up to Lorrimer Road, while officers carry out enquiries at the scene.
