Detectives are appealing for information after two women were arrested in connection with a serious collision in Rutland.
Just before 6.45am yesterday (Sunday 8 December), police were called to the A606 Empingham Road between Empingham and Stamford, close to the junction with Water Lane. On arrival, officers found a 20-year-old man at the side of the road with a serious leg injury. He was taken to hospital, where he is continuing to receive treatment for head, leg and pelvic injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
A black Audi Q2, which is believed to have been involved in the collision, was later found abandoned in Oakham. Following further enquiries, two women – both aged 20 – were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless/inconsiderate driving, drink driving and failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic accident. They have since been released under investigation.
PC Ellise Timmins, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: “While two people have been arrested, our investigation is very much continuing and I’m appealing for anyone who can help to get in touch.
“I’d like to speak to anyone who saw the collision occur, but particularly any motorists with a dashcam who captured it or who saw a black Audi Q2 beforehand.
“Anything you can provide could assist our investigation.”
