Investigation following report of incident in Wellington Street, Leicester

A police investigation is ongoing following an incident reported to have happened in the area of Wellington Street, Leicester, earlier this morning (Sunday).
Police were made aware at around 7.30am today that a man, in his 20s, had presented at a hospital with what are believed to be stab wound injuries. The man is receiving treatment at hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
From initial enquiries, it is understood the injuries were sustained following an incident in the area of Wellington Street, Leicester, which happened just after 7am today. A scene preservation was put in place in the area to allow initial enquiries to assist with establishing the full circumstances of the incident. The scene will shortly be removed.
Detective Sergeant Jim Muzzell said: “Our investigation is at a very early stage and the scene preservation was put in place to allow us to complete initial enquiries.
“We are continuing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and are appealing to anyone who was in the area earlier this morning, and who has any information they think may help, to get in touch with us.
“Did you see or hear anything that caused you concern? Do you have any dashcam footage or CCTV from the area that could help our enquiries? If you think you can help in any way, then please get in touch.
“Thank you to the local community for your ongoing support and co-operation with us while the cordon remained in place this morning. Please do continue to speak with officers in the area regarding any concerns or information you have.”
