Officers from the force’s roads policing unit are continuing to investigate a collision involving a car and pedestrian – and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
It happened at the junction of Evington Valley Road, Chesterfield Road and Ethel Road at around 12.45pm on Sunday 3 December.
The pedestrian – a woman in her 70s – was crossing Evington Valley Road when she was struck by a grey Mercedes, which was believed to be a C-Class model.
The driver of the car waited at the scene but left when the woman was taken to hospital by a family member. She is continuing to receive treatment for fractures to her back and ribs.
PC David Stewart, from the RPU, said: “I’m appealing for the driver of the Mercedes to do the right thing and make contact with us as they will have information that could help our investigation.
“The drivers of three cars – a silver or grey Volkswagen Tiguan, a silver Honda Jazz and a grey Kia Ceed – stopped at the scene to help and I’d urge the drivers of those vehicles to come forward too. There was also a pedestrian who was stood nearby who helped and remained there until the woman was taken to hospital.
“Please cast your mind back. What can you remember? If you were any of those people, then please get in touch.”
