A man has been sentenced at court after admitting burglary and fraud offences.
Darren Smith, 39, of no fixed address was sentenced to two years and six months in prison for two counts of burglary and three counts of fraud by false representation at Leicester Crown Court on Tuesday (25 June).
He pleaded guilty to a burglary at a property in Stamford Street, Leicester overnight between 31 January and 1 February earlier this year.
Stolen from the property were several items including a bank card which was later fraudulently used.
Smith was also sentenced after admitting another burglary overnight between 19 and 20 January 2024 whereby again a bank card was stolen from another premises in Stamford Street and later fraudulently used.

PC Eliot Bates, who was the investigating officer, said: “Smith is a prolific offender who must have thought nothing of burgling and stealing bank cards to use fraudulently.
“A thorough investigation allowed us to identify him and as a result of this he has been forced to admit his crimes and face the consequences.”
