Officers are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed in Leicester city centre.
Sometime between 7.45pm and 8pm on Thursday 31 October the victim was walking along New Walk citybound towards a group of seven or eight men, all wearing black and balaclavas.
One of the group approached him asking for the time before demanding the victim’s phone.
The victim was then held by one of the other men on the ground and an attempt was made to take his phone from him. During the incident, the victim’s coat was held over his face, and he was kicked to his face and body before he managed to escape running off without his phone.
The victim sustained to a cut to his face which required stitches.
He recalls at this point seeing one of the group targeting another victim by punching him to his face and asking for his wallet.
Detective Constable Zaeema Osman is appealing for witnesses and the second victim to come forward.
DC Osman said: “Our investigation remains ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who may have any information to get in touch.
“We are also keen to trace this second victim and take a report from him regarding his robbery.
“If anyone has any information about these incidents or the people responsible, please contact us.”
