A man has died following a single-vehicle collision in Tonge – and detectives are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Police were called to Moor Lane at around 3.20pm yesterday (Tuesday 17 September) following a report a grey Volkswagen Golf had left the carriageway and collided with a tree.
The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. A road closure, which was in place for several hours, has since been removed.
Detective Inspector Steve Kilsby, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: “Our enquiries to establish how the car came to leave the road are continuing and I’d like to speak to anyone who can help.
“I’m particularly keen to speak to any motorists with a dashcam or who saw the Golf prior to the collision occurring. Anything you’re able to tell us could assist our investigation.”
