A man is in hospital with serious injuries following a collision on the M1 northbound, junction 21A exit slip road.
Police were contacted at 3.05am today (Sunday) following the single-car collision on the exit slip road which leads onto the A46. The car involved was a white Volkswagen Polo.
East Midlands Ambulance Service were also in attendance and the driver – a 19-year-old man – was taken to hospital where he currently remains with serious injuries.
No-one else was reported to be in the car and no other injuries have been reported.
An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
Detective Constable Charlotte Wright, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man remains in hospital with serious injuries. We are continuing to establish what has happened and how it has happened and have been speaking to a number of people who were at the scene.
“We continue to appeal for further information from anyone who may have been in the area and has not yet spoken to us. If you were in the area during the early hours of this morning (Sunday) and saw the incident, or if you saw the vehicle travelling beforehand, please get in touch. Similarly, if you have any dashcam footage, please make contact with us.”
