A pedestrian remains in hospital following a collision near Wigston this morning (Friday 17 January).
Police were called to a stretch of the A5199 Welford Road, between Kilby and the River Sence, just before 6.30am after it was reported a lorry had collided with a man.
The pedestrian, who is in his 20s, remains in hospital being treated for serious injuries.
A 53-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit, has since been released under investigation.
Detective Constable Paul Hicks, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), is continuing to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
He said: “Our investigation into this collision is very much ongoing and we are still keen to speak to motorists with a dashcam or anyone who saw the collision. I’d also ask anyone who saw either the lorry or pedestrian prior to it occurring to make contact. Anything you’re able to tell us could be important.”
