An appeal is being made to identify the driver of a van following a collision in East Leicester on Friday evening (3 January).
It is believed the driver of the van pictured below – believed to be a Maxus van – may have information about the incident.
Police were called to the junction of Evington Lane, Evington Road and Evington Drive just before 7pm following a report that a van had collided with a pedestrian and then left the scene prior to emergency services arriving.
The pedestrian – a man in his 70s – was taken to hospital where he is continuing to receive treatment for serious injuries, though they are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Detective Sergeant Jack Cornick, from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: "From enquiries carried out since the incident occurred, we believe the driver of this van has information that could help our investigation.
“It’s quite distinctive in its appearance and is a Maxus van. If you were the driver of that vehicle, or you know who was, then please get in touch.
“I’m also continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or who has footage but has not yet contacted police to do so.”
