Teams across the force have been working hard this month to bring charges in several different investigations and have others appear at court to be found guilty or sentenced – this is a small snapshot of cases our offices have been busy with.
Charged in January:
Hamza Mohamed
A man has been charged with fraud offences following a courier fraud investigation.
Hamza Mohamed, 29, formerly of Aysgarth Road, Leicester, was charged with four counts of fraud by false representation.
He appeared before Leicester Magistrates’ Court early in January and was remanded into custody to appear at Leicester Crown Court on 23 February.

Two teens charged with attempted murder
Officers investigating a stabbing in Leicester’s Granby Street have made a total of three arrests.
Two boys, both aged 16, who were arrested on Friday and yesterday (16 and 17 January), have both been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

Two brothers sentenced to more than 12 years in prison
Two brothers who targeted homes across the East Midlands and Wales, stealing cars, cash and jewellery, have been jailed for a combined total of more than 12 years thanks to collaborative working across several police forces.
Daniel Casey – known as Danny – was linked to scores of burglaries between October 2024 and January 2025, while his younger sibling Terrence Casey was linked to several incidents in January and February 2025.

Manslaughter guilty plea
A man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after another man died following an assault at HMP Fosse Way.
Damien Ward, 36, pleaded guilty at a hearing last week at Leicester Crown Court for the killing of 42-year-old Dennis Green in August last year.
