Charged and In Court: June and July 2026

It’s been a busy couple of summer months for the force, with numerous people charged and more than 129 years given in prison sentences at court.

Charged
Officer hit by a car
A 30-year-old man has been charged with four offences relating an incident in which a police officer was struck by a car.
Ndricim Jakupi, of no fixed address, has been charged with assault by beating an emergency worker, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance.
The charges relate to an incident on Monday 26 January in High Street, Oakham, in which a Leicestershire officer suffered cuts and grazes after being hit by a car.
Jakupi has also been charged with stalking. This is an unrelated offence that is reported to have happened in Hertfordshire.
Firearms discharge
Two people have been charged as part of a police investigation into firearm discharges in Leicester.
The investigation remains ongoing in relation to offences which occurred on Tuesday 2 June in Cort Crescent, Braunstone, and two incidents on Tuesday 9 June in Brascote Lane, Newbold Verdon and Station Road, Glenfield.
In all three incidents, damage was caused to the front of the properties – consistent with a firearm having been discharged. A car was also damaged in Newbold Verdon. No-one has been injured.
On Sunday 21 June, Daniel Bateman, 29, of no fixed address, and Tom Law, 38, of Corfield Rise, Leicester, were both charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited for life. The charges relate to the incident at Brascote Lane and Station Road on 9 June 2026
Bateman and Law appeared at Leicester Magistrates Court, where they were remanded into custody. They are due to appear at Leicester Crown Court on Monday 10 August.
Burglary offences
A man has been charged with several burglary offences.
Shawn Tulley, 43, of no fixed address, has been charged with six counts of burglary, three counts of attempted burglary and criminal damage.
The charges relate to burglaries at commercial premises in the city centre between 25 June and 21 July this year.

A46 collision
A 26-year-old man has been charged following a collision on the A46 on the morning on Monday 29 June.
Niks Rogacs, of Acacia Close, Leicester, has been charged with the following offences:
- One count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving
- One count of theft of a motor vehicle
- One count of using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance
The charges relate to a collision involving a Mercedes van and BMW 1 Series. The driver of the BMW remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Following the collision, the force’s Professional Standards Department was informed, and the incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
Two charged with burglary offences
A man has been charged after a number of offences of robbery and theft in Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.
Jack Moore, 33, of Montvale Gardens, Leicester has been charged with:
- One count of theft from person relating to a theft in Sweetbriar Road, Leicester on 31 May 2026
- One count of theft from store relating to a store theft in Exploration Drive, Leicester on 22 June 2026
- One count of robbery relating to a business in Granby Street, Leicester on 26 June 2026
- One count of robbery relating to a business in Lower Parliament Steet, Nottingham on 26 June 2026
- One count of robbery relating to a business in Stephenson Drive, New Parks on 2 July 2026
- Two counts of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence relating to the Lower Parliament Street and Stephenson Drive robberies
- One count of possessing a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place relating to the Granby Street robbery
Gary Moore, 58, of HMP Hatfield Lakes in Doncaster, has also been charged with these offences, along with escaping lawful custody, possession of a bladed article in a public place, possession of class A drugs and two counts of possession of an imitation firearm.
In court
Tom Horn was jailed in June after pleading guilty to three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one count of intentional strangulation, one count of intentional suffocation, and one count of controlling and coercive behaviour. He was also issued with an indefinite restraining order.

Richile Vangu and Oluwatobiloba Akinrinola
Two men who filmed themselves threatening, assaulting and stealing from several victims have been jailed.
In the early hours of 21 November last year, police received a report that several men had attended an open party at an address in North Kilworth which had been advertised on Snapchat.

Islamuddin Talash
In October 2023 a 20-year-old man was subjected to a serious sexual assault in a city park.
On Wednesday 15 July, the perpetrator was jailed.
During the afternoon of 9 October, the victim was sitting on a bench in Abbey Park when he was approached by 43-year-old Islamuddin Talash.
The pair briefly spoke about bicycles, with Talash telling the victim he had one that he was willing to give him.

Mark Watson
A man who raped and began sexually abusing a teenage boy in 2015 has been jailed.
Mark Watson was sentenced to 12-and-a-half years at Leicester Crown Court on Thursday 9 July.
The 55-year-old’s offending was brought to the attention of police in 2021 when the victim, who is now an adult, told a third-party what had happened between 2015 and 2018.
He told officers from our Child Abuse Investigation Unit (CAIU) that Watson had raped him on several occasions and forced him to engage in other sexual activity. He said Watson had also physically assaulted him during that time and regularly threatened him with violence.

Macauley Worden
A senior detective has praised the courage shown by a rape victim after a man was jailed on Friday 10 July.
Having been convicted of attempted murder, rape, sexual assault and robbery following a trial in April, Macauley Worden was sentenced to 34 years’ imprisonment when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court.
He attacked his victim on the canal towpath near Belton Road in Loughborough in the early hours of 30 August last year, pushing them to the ground and repeatedly punching them.
Twenty-eight-year-old Worden then raped and sexually assaulted the victim while attempting to strangle them. Following the incident, he made off from the scene with their phone and wallet.

Stephane Hassiakos
An international drug trafficker responsible for importing 1,000kg of cocaine to the UK and handling more than £7 million in criminal cash has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Thanks to the work of specialist officers, Stephane Hassiakos, 54, was identified as playing a leading role in the importation and widespread distribution of cocaine in the country, particularly across the East Midlands.

Adam Daley
An Uber driver who raped a passenger at knifepoint has been jailed for 16 years – following the victim’s swift actions in reporting the offence.
Officers were able to locate and arrest Adam Daley an hour after the incident in December last year, after the woman he attacked immediately contacted police.
Her rapid reporting enabled officers to carry out some swift enquiries to identify the defendant’s car and to track its movements through CCTV and ANPR cameras.

Leon Bowes
A woman who was sexually abused as a child has helped convict a serial sex offender of further offences after seeing news of his other crimes.
Leon Bowes, 35, was already serving life imprisonment with a minimum of 17 years behind bars after being convicted on 20 November 2024 of 25 offences against three women.
Daniel Frape
Officers on routine patrol in South Leicester uncovered more than they bargained for after stopping a driver in March this year.
They drove past a Ford Mondeo which was parked in Lawford Road and became suspicious about the vehicle. The offices ran some checks on police systems which revealed the Mondeo was registered to someone in Coventry and had no insurance.
They subsequently traced the vehicle to Pawley Road and stopped the driver – their suspicions proved right after a quantity of drugs were recovered from the car, including mobile phones, a baseball bat and an extendable baton.
The driver, 31-year-old Daniel Frape, was arrested and following a search of his home address in Garden Street, Wigston, Leicester, officers discovered a large quantity of drugs, cash, a firearm and some ammunition.

Jack Reape
An investigation led by specialist officers into a collision which killed an 18-year-old girl and left three others injured has led to the driver being jailed for 10 years.
Jack Reape was sentenced at Leicester Crown Court on Friday 24 July after pleading guilty in May to one count of causing death by driving while disqualified, one count of causing death by dangerous driving and three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
