Support those in need:
Leicestershire Police is supporting the Give Leicester scheme which aims to provide help to those sleeping rough.
The scheme enables people to donate money directly to the city’s Winter Night Shelter which provides emergency shelter and food for those otherwise without them.
How does it work?
Nine Give Leicester donation points have been installed in the city centre – these are small, contactless terminals that accept donations by card. Simply tap your contactless card against the glass to donate £3.
Leicester’s Winter Night Shelter is operated by One Roof Leicester, an independent registered charity with the aim of empowering local communities to support homeless people to build new lives.
Locations are St Martin’s Coffee Shop, McDonalds on Eastgates and Market Street, Clockwise Credit Union, De Montfort University, St Martins House, Greggs on Gallowtree Gate, Knighton Library and Westcotes Library on Narborough Road.
More locations will follow, with the aim of having 16 giving points in total.
The Give Leicester initiative will also support a website listing over 75 organisations in the city that offer support services for homeless people.
