Try not to make it obvious your property is lived in by students…

  • Happy Hollandaise! Going away for the weekend or longer? Make sure your doors and windows are locked and valuables are out of sight.
  • Burglars target student properties because they know they are most likely to have many expensive items worth pinching
  • Don’t leave valuables or cash lying around in full sight. Keep them in a safe place
  • Close curtains or blinds at night or when you’re going out in the evening. Make sure your house looks occupied after dark by leaving lights on or using an automatic timer
  • Insure your possessions – take photos and write down serial numbers. It’s cheaper to insure than replace your stuff
  • Don’t leave packaging from expensive items outside your house. Take it to be recycled or put it in the bin
  • Keep your windows and doors locked at all times, even when in the property, when you’re going upstairs or popping out – even for a minute. Remove the key from the lock
