PC Charlotte Curry left home at 15 and quickly realised that, if she didn’t make a change, her life was going to head in the wrong direction.
“I realised that if I wanted to promote change I had to become part of that change, so I began my career working for the public sector. Through hard work and determination, I became a primary school specialist support teacher and then a prison officer and that was when I knew I wanted to take my career one step further and take the leap to start my career as a police officer.”
PC Curry joined us in 2021 and is currently a Dedicated Neighbourhood Officer in Market Harborough.
“I joined Leicestershire Police because I could see that women like me were already working in the force. Being a police officer is what you make it but my favourite thing of all is being role model to other women and I am able to share my experiences with victims of crime and reassure them that it can get better if they look for help.
“This is the best job in the world but it is challenging and there are inevitably days when you ask yourself ‘why?’ but that’s OK. What I have learnt is that if you believe in yourself others will believe in you.”
