PC Joe Taylor

At 6 feet 8 inches tall, PC Joe Taylor is one of our tallest police officers and was formerly a Leicester Riders basketball player.

Joe is in his probationary period having joined the force in January 2022 and is a Neighbourhood Patrol Officer (NPO) in Leicester City Centre. He said;

“I joined Leicestershire Police because I like the fact that the force serves a wide range of communities and that Leicester is very diverse. Coming from a Caribbean background myself, I feel proud to represent the Jamaican community within the force.”

Working in the city centre means he meets people from different cultures and backgrounds every day. He added;

“I like the fact that no two days are the same, the jobs we are called to are all very different and you need to be able to constantly adapt and think on your feet as it can be very busy and demanding at times.”

Joe decided to change his career and become a police officer because he is passionate about helping others and is proud to be able to make a positive impact on someone’s life. 

“It’s the satisfaction you get knowing you’ve helped someone that is really rewarding. I would highly recommend being a police officer to anyone.  If you are thinking about it then just do it, it is by far the best decision I have made and I truly enjoy it.”
