Rebecca is the first person in her family to join the police. Growing up in Leicestershire, the 27-year-old wanted to give something back to the community.

She said: “I’ve always wanted to help people and have a purpose to life. I’d always wanted to join the police but I had my doubts whether or not I should, as I was worried it was going to be a male dominated environment. But upon speaking to my friend who was already in the police service, she reassured me that this wasn’t the case and encouraged me to apply.

Before joining the force in 2020, Rebecca worked for energy providers in customer service and admin roles. She said: “Offering my communication and people skills has always been at the centre of my previous roles and it is a skill that I am proud of.

Rebecca’s advice to someone thinking about joining the police would be: “Do your research, reach out to people for advice and take each step at a time as I love it already and I’ve only just started my journey.”
