Pay and pension

Salaries vary depending on the role you’re applying for.


All new entrants to the police service automatically join the Local Government Scheme.

Although membership of the scheme is automatic it is not compulsory and you can elect to opt out at any time. The amount of contribution you pay depends upon the level of your pensionable earnings.

You can expect to have a minimum of 23 days of paid holiday each year. This is in addition to public holidays.
