Ross Morley joined Leicestershire Police as a Contact Handler in our Contact Management Department (CMD) seven years ago, after following in the footsteps of his family members.
Always pushing himself to the next challenge and wanting to further help people, Ross decided to move over to the Dispatch Team where he is responsible for the coordination and safety of police officers on the ground following an emergency call.
Ross’ good mapping skills help decipher which officer needs to go where and who is attending the scene.
A memorable job which has stuck in Ross’ mind was when he took a call from a lady who was getting broken into downstairs. He said:
“I kept talking and ensured she was safe in a room upstairs until officers attended.”
He said:
“We have good days and bad days, but mainly it’s rewarding and you come out of it feeling like you’ve helped someone or have given them the right advice.”
