Be an inspiration to our cadets and develop your volunteering leadership.
Our cadet leaders are vital in the running and preparation of our cadet programme, and in encouraging and guiding our young people through their policing journey.
As a cadet leader, you will volunteer your own time to be part of a team who lead and inspire young people as Volunteer Police Cadets.
We currently have nine cadet units spread across Leicester and Leicestershire:
As a cadet leader you will be given the choice of which unit you would like to join.
Each cadet unit meets for one evening a week throughout the academic year at designated locations. During these unit sessions, cadet leaders deliver sessions on the National Volunteer Police Cadet curriculum, various inputs from police departments and work on skills such as teambuilding. The National Volunteer Police Cadet curriculum covers topics such as law, community, communication and police procedures.
Volunteer Police Cadet evenings last for approximately 3 hours per week, during the academic year; you don’t have to commit to volunteering each single week, however a strong commitment to the role is required. You are also expected to volunteer an additional minimum of 3 hours per month in support of operations and social action events.
You will take part in an induction to help you understand your role and how the force works, along with training on how to use specialist databases and IT systems.
You will receive bespoke training, guidance and support from the Force Volunteer Police Cadets Lead Coordinator.
