Your Dedicated Neighbourhood Team (DNT) is a group of local police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.
We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
You told us about a car meet at Thurmaston Retail Park.
Issued 27 January 2022
We engaged with the organiser of the car meet to fully understand the community. We learnt that the car meet was being attended by another car meet, and that these were responsible for the issues being caused. Their attendance and issues increasing corroborated this.
Through joint work with Leicestershire Police's Roads Policing Unit the event was attended and traffic regulations were enforced. The local beat team worked with businesses at the retail park about parking restrictions and other measures that could be implemented to reduce the impact on the road network.
In recent weeks it has been fed back to the local team that issues have subsided somewhat. The team remain focussed on the issue and will respond accordingly in the future.
