I am Inspector Matt Allingham, I have been a police officer in Leicestershire since 2004. I have worked in a variety of roles across Leicester and Leicestershire in that time. I joined the job to protect people and prevent crime and 20+ years later that is still the reason I do this job. In the early part of my career this was mainly done by arresting people myself and getting them into court ... as an Inspector I now support and direct the officers and staff who do the arresting and investigating so that we can use our resources to give the best service we can to the people of Blaby.

I first joined Leicestershire Police in 2010 as a Police Support Volunteer where I was based at Braunstone Police Station.
In October 2016 joined as a Police Community Support Officer starting in the Market Bosworth area before moving to the Braunstone Town and Thorpe Astley beat at the start of 2017. Before moving in 2018 to the Leicester Forest East, Kirby Muxloe and Glenfield beat team.
In November 2022 saw me move to the Enderby, Narborough, Littlethorpe and New Lubbesthorpe beat. I have recently moved (May 2023) the Blaby, Whetstone, Glen Parva, and Cosby beat. I am looking forward to working with the local community and tackling issues that affect you. If you see me out and about stop me and raise any issues or concerns you may have.

The beat team have continued targeted patrols, both in uniform and plain clothes in locations identified through reports from residents and partner agencies. During patrols near Blaby Golf Centre, a group of young people were engaged with and intelligence was obtained relating to anti-social behaviour and suspected drug activity. Further patrols will continue over the coming weeks, with action taken where offences or persistent ASB are identified.

Road Safety including car cruising, anti-social driving and vehicle safety has been highlighted by the public as an issue.
Action taken:
Operation Spinner patrols have taken place in response to vehicle related anti-social behaviour including regular car meets and street racing.
Last month we received dozens of calls from across the force area of a large scale car meet. Several calls reported street racing, drifting, dangerous driving and anti-social behaviour. Luckily, intelligence told us they were coming and Special Constables Sarah and Tom cut short their Sunday evening at home to kit up and hit the road. Reports were received in South Wigston, Blaby, Grove Park, Markfield, Wykin and Castle Donnington amongst others. Many vehicles were seized across the whole Operation for their manner of driving under S.59 of the Police Reform Act, and over 100 caught on Dashcams, whom should be expecting something in the post very soon. Roads Policing Officers continued to disrupt the car meets and take action as the large convoy travelled up the county and into Derbyshire who took over the Operation.
