I am Inspector Matt Allingham, I have been a police officer in Leicestershire since 2004. I have worked in a variety of roles across Leicester and Leicestershire in that time. I joined the job to protect people and prevent crime and 20+ years later that is still the reason I do this job. In the early part of my career this was mainly done by arresting people myself and getting them into court ... as an Inspector I now support and direct the officers and staff who do the arresting and investigating so that we can use our resources to give the best service we can to the people of Blaby.

I joined Leicestershire Police in June 2007 and since then have worked at Wigston, Blaby and now Braunstone Police Station, where I have been part of the beat team for Braunstone Town and Thorpe Astley since 2019.

General anti-social behaviour has been raised as a priority by local residents this includes nuisance by youths at Meridian Leisure Park
Action taken:
A resident of an East Midlands Housing property had breached their tenancy in relation to being convicted of criminal offences and had been involved in incidents of ASB. Working with East Midlands Housing, the resident was evicted. PCSO Duane attended another EMH residential home where he was joined by several EMH Officers to discuss issues at the location. There has been some discord at the housing scheme of late, so we were there to explain how we can encourage activities, support residents and how we will implement the ASB Powers should the need arise. Many of the residents were unaware of what can be done should ASB continue so an opportunity to discuss the matter at length was appreciated.

Burglary has been raised as a priority by residents this will primarily be residential but there a few commercial premises in the NH19 area as well.
Action taken:
There is an emerging trend on the beat whereby unoccupied properties seem to be targeted. Beat team are carrying out targeted patrols and providing safeguarding advice Investigations are on-going to identify offenders.

Road Safety include off road motorbikes, speeding and other general road safety issues raised a priority by Neighbourhood Link

Your local Beat Team carried out a speed enforcement operation on Braunstone Lane and Murby Way in response to concerns raised by the community. Over 100 vehicles were checked, and we are pleased to report that the vast majority of drivers were complying with the speed limits and helping to keep our roads safe. However, a small number of motorists, approximately 50 vehicles were found to be exceeding the speed limit and were dealt with accordingly. Road safety remains a key priority for the Braunstone Town and Thorpe Astley Beat Team. Excessive speed increases the risk of collisions and can have devastating consequences for road users, residents, and the wider community. We will continue to carry out both enforcement and engagement activities across the area to tackle this issue.
