I am the Neighbourhood policing area commander for North West Leicester. I have worked in a wide range of roles across the whole force area and aim to bring this experience to effectively lead my policing teams to ensure North West Leicestershire is a safe place to live, work and visit.

I am Police Community Support Officer Maryann Mason (6633) and I have been in the role since February 2025. I hold a Professional Policing degree from the University of Derby and have previously played football for Leicester City Women. My academic background and sporting experience have strengthened my communication, teamwork, and resilience, enabling me to build strong community relationships and perform effectively in this role within the Ashby Beat.

I am Police Community Support Officer 6443 with Leicestershire Police, serving the community since 2012 in a variety of roles. Since 2020, I have proudly looked after the Ashby beat, building strong relationships and working to keep the area safe and secure.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in policing and remain committed to delivering a visible, approachable presence that supports local residents. Looking ahead, I am excited to continue my career on beat NN46, bringing experience, dedication, and a passion for community engagement to the role.

I have served with Leicestershire Police for over 20 years. I started my career in Neighbourhood Policing at North West Leicestershire before working on various response teams across the Force. I’m delighted to be back in the area where it all started for me now overseeing teams of Dedicated Neighbourhood Policing Officers. Together we can make a difference in your community.

I have served with Leicestershire Police for 23+ years. The majority of my service has been spent as a response officer and I have worked from a variety of locations around the Force area. I have looked after North West Leicestershire since 2010 and I achieved my ambition of joining the Dedicated Neighbourhood Team for Ashby-de-La-Zouch (NN46 Beat) in September of 2023. The NN46 Beat is where I grew up and I am very thankful for the opportunity to contribute to making this a safe place for all law-abiding people who live in/visit the area.

I am PC Ryan Lang (4516), and I have served with Leicestershire Police for around 6 years, joining in January 2020. The entirety of my career has been spent frontline within the North-West Leicestershire area; serving as a Response Officer and Neighbourhood Officer, for the NN46 Ashby Beat. I have a personal interest in tackling emerging local issues, assisting vulnerable persons in need and working alongside our local community members and organisations to create stronger, safer neighbourhoods.

Car cruise activity on the A511 Ashby bypass and surrounding areas

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

You said - Car cruise activity on the A511 Ashby bypass and surrounding area continues to be a matter of concern.

*As a Neighbourhood Policing Area we have continued to target this location and regularly respond to calls of erratic / dangerous driving along that stretch of Road by persons involved in car cruise activity. We are dealing with those identified as involved accordingly.

    * We attend in response to calls from you for spontaneous incidents and we also monitor social media in advance to arrange our attendance on planned events.

*We want to put longer term measures in place so that there are clearly identified areas where this activity becomes a specified offence and so there are additional enforcement opportunities available to us to deter this from continuing. We are working with North West Leicestershire District Council on a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in order to achieve this.
