Michaela Kerr joined the force in 2023, becoming ACC Crime and Criminal Justice and subsequently taking on the Chief Officer lead for the newly established Prevention Directorate.
With a personal commitment to supporting all staff in the workplace and ensuring that Leicestershire Police continues to be a force where everyone can thrive and achieve their potential, she has also led on the Force Fast-Track and Talent Management Programmes, is an active Coach for colleagues from under-represented groups and is the Chief Officer Lead for the Women’s Inclusive Network.
T/DCC Kerr is the National Police Chief’s Council Lead for the Prison and Probation Portfolio and works closely with Senior Colleagues from His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service, The Home Office, Ministry of Justice, National Crime Agency and Regional Organised Crime Units to strengthen the UK policing and partnership response to risks linked to the Prison estate and those on Probation.
Prior to joining Leicestershire, Michaela was a Detective Chief Superintendent in Greater Manchester Police, a Detective Superintendent in National Counter Terrorism Police Headquarters and spent her first 20 years’ service up to the rank of Detective Chief Inspector in West Midlands Police.
In her spare time, she is a referee for Grass Roots football, loves walking and is the proud mum of a teenage son and 2 adorable Border Collies.
