    To support City Centre businesses with retail crime and tackle perpetrators

    YOU SAID:
    -Retail crime effects shopping areas of the City Centre and you would like to see action to tackle this and support our retailers

    *APRIL UPDATE*
    WE DID:
    -We have been supporting local businesses with retail crime including Boots, John Lewis, Primark and Herron Foods by engaging with store supervisory to discuss crime prevention and target hardening measures which include CCTV, stock placement, security advice and store access considerations.
    -We have identified a cohort of prolific perpetrators and are working to secure criminal behaviour orders against them to prevent them from targeting our retail community. So far we have has 2 of these orders granted and have 4 further orders going through the courts at present.
    -In the last 30 days we have identified and charged 40 people for retail theft offences and a further 8 have been issued with out of court disposals.
    -Our PCSO's have been holding engagement events at retails locations such as the Haymarket shopping centre, Highcross shopping centre and John Lewis. At these events we support or retailers and help the public with any questions or queries they have.

    *MAY UPDATE*
    -Officers Tom and Karl have further supported Boots following an increase in retail theft. They will visit their crime and intelligence headquarters to further strengthen our relationship and streamline the evidence gathering process.
    -We have been working with Highcross and Zara by holding an enhanced crime reduction meeting, sharing relevant information, discussing crime trends and options available to increase store security.
    -In the last 30 days we have identified and charged 17 people for retail theft offences and a further 5 have been issued with out of court disposals.
    -Our PCSO's have been holding engagement events at retails locations such as the Haymarket shopping centre, Highcross shopping centre and John Lewis. At these events we support or retailers and help the public with any questions or queries they have.

    To tackle anti-social behaviour in the area of Granby Street, Belvior Street and Town Hall Square

    YOU SAID:
    -You want to enjoy the Town Hall Square, Granby Street, Belvior and surrounding area but ASB caused by people and vehicles prevents this

    *APRIL UPDATE*
    WE DID:
    -We have significantly increased our high visibility patrol in this area throughout the day and evening.
    -To further tackle and address the associated anti-social behaviour in this area we have been conducting license checks at numerous premises including off-licences and bars that contribute to alcohol relates ASB in this location. On our most recent Operation Oversee deployment we found 9 premises that had breached a license condition, 7 have been issued with a formal warning a 2 premises will heard at a court revocation hearing.
    -We have conducted Operation Pedalfast in this location during April and a further 18 illegal vehicles have been seized with another 3 people arrested for offences identified.
    -We have continued to conduct stop searches and have seized drugs from this location. During these interventions we have made multiple arrests.
    -The team have supported local businesses and held engagement events to support staff and offer re-assurance.
    -We have been working with local residential premises to secure their buildings to prevent them from being accessed and used for anti-social behaviour.

    *MAY UPDATE*
    -We have identified and started 5 individuals on the incremental approach to tackle the ASB they are causing.
    -We have continued our patrols resulting in a further 8 stop searches in the area with positive results.
    -We have made numerous arrests for drug related offences and seized drugs from the locality.
    -We have continued to deploy Op Pedalfast in this area to tackle the ASB caused by nuisance electric vehicles with 776 now seized.
    -We have held numerous events in this area including Bike Register to promote cycle safety and show a visible presence.

    To tackle anti-social behaviour in the area of Clock Tower, East Gates, Cheapside and Cank Street

    YOU SAID:
    -You want to feel safe coming to the City Centre and want to enjoy the area of Clock Tower, East Gates, Cheapside and Cank Street

    Action taken:

    *APRIL UPDATE*
    WE DID:
    -We have significantly increased our high visibility patrol in this area throughout the day and evening.
    -We have conducted targeted operations to tackle drug offences in this area. Our most recent deployment resulted in 18 stop searches, 9 arrests, 2 safeguarding referrals, 2 community resolutions and 9 ASB interventions.
    -Through our regular patrols we have identified 10 perpetrators of anti-social behaviour and started them on the inchmeal approach. Following this process if their behaviour continues and warning letters are not followed they could face injunctions form the City Centre.
    -We have conducted Operation Pedalfast in this location during April and a further 18 illegal vehicles have been seized with another 3 people arrested for offences identified.
    -We have been working with the Leicester City Council to implement target hardening measures in this area that can include changes to access points and boarding of disused shop fronts.

    *MAY UPDATE*
    -We have been working with local business in this locality to tackle ASB caused by the street lifestyle community and have identified 2 serial perpetrators who we will now be progressing on incremental approach.
    -We have identified some false charity collection agents and are working with community safety and other partners to tackle this issue and prevent them from operating in the area.
    -We have arrested a prolific offender of ASB and public order offences who now has conditions preventing him from being in the locality.
    -We have continued to deploy Op Pedalfast in this area to tackle the ASB caused by nuisance electric vehicles with 776 now seized.
