The beat team has seen an increase in burglaries over the last couple of months and will be working hard to reduce these incidents.

Burglary has a significant impact on both victims and the wider community. Beyond the loss of property, victims often experience a lasting sense of insecurity, fear and anxiety following an intrusion into their home, which can affect their wellbeing and confidence within their neighbourhood. Repeated burglary offences can also undermine community trust and increase residents' fear of crime.

To address this issue, the Beat Team will focus on reducing burglary across the beat through a combination of targeted enforcement and preventative activity. We will direct high-visibility patrols towards locations identified through crime analysis as burglary hotspots, providing both reassurance to residents and a deterrent to offenders. Officers will engage with local communities, residents' groups and partner agencies to identify emerging concerns and share crime prevention advice. We will also provide home security and safety guidance, encouraging residents to take practical measures to protect their properties, such as improving door and window security, using lighting and CCTV, and reporting suspicious behaviour promptly. Through increased visibility, community engagement and proactive crime prevention, we aim to reduce burglary offences and improve public confidence across the beat area.

The beat team aim to tackle incidences of ASB within the villages including the parks and beauty spots of Charnwood West utilising ASB and civil legislation and patrols in locations identified as subject to ASB.

Extensive work continues to tackle ASB on Kinchley Lane- the current top spot for ASB across Charnwood West. There is a significant increase in vehicle related ASB in the area, and the DNO team have been engaging with County Councils across the country as well as other police forces to seek inspiration on how to create long term solution for this issue. Patrols, intervention and engagement continue in the area as well as the surrounding villages to encourage those impact to report ASB online where possible.

Tackling anti-social behaviour has remained a priority across the NL56 beat. Officers continue to carry out high-visibility patrols and maintain a visible presence in the area to provide reassurance to the community. The Beat Team has liaised with those reporting ASB, providing updates and gathering information to support ongoing enquiries. In addition, two joint agency patch walks were carried out in Quorn in response to ASB concerns raised by residents, enabling issues to be identified and addressed alongside partner agencies. Patrols have been directed to affected locations and efforts are ongoing to identify those responsible. Where perpetrators are identified, the Beat Team will follow an incremental approach, working with partners where appropriate and considering the most suitable interventions and enforcement options to prevent further incidents and reduce the impact on the community

Update: The beat team have been working alongside response colleagues and partner agencies following an incident whereby a male committed a number of public order offences, some racially aggravated. This caused some concern in the community given the fact that offences were directed towards school children. Work is ongoing to manage this male whilst he remains on court bail. Officers are continuing to monitor the situation and complete reassurance patrols in the local area.

The beat team will deal with incidences of drug use and dealing across the beat area. Patrolling identified areas, utilising stop search powers where available and develop intelligence to allow us to target dealing within your area.

Throughout August, neighbourhood policing activity on the NL56 beat has remained focused on tackling issues that matter most to the local community. Officers have continued to carry out high-visibility patrols, engage with residents, and respond to concerns raised by members of the public. This month, beat team colleagues assisted with three stop and searches, which resulted in a male being found in possession of drugs. This positive outcome demonstrates our ongoing commitment to disrupting criminality and addressing drug-related activity within the area. We have also been strengthening relationships with partner agencies to support longer-term problem solving. This has included working closely with housing associations to discuss tenancy breaches and identify opportunities to address behaviour that is having a negative impact on local communities. We will continue to work alongside partner organisations and local residents to make the NL56 beat a safer place to live, work, and visit.

Update: Work is ongoing across the beat to identify those addresses and individuals that are causing the most harm. There are plans in the pipeline to assist our partner agencies with a closure order and the beat team will be working towards warrant applications for addresses involved in drug supply.
