During May, our focus has been on strengthening engagement with local partners to address road safety concerns and identify emerging speeding hotspots across the beat area. This has been done through foot patrols in impacted areas, attending Parish Council Meetings to establish areas of concerned as identified by residents and reviewing submissions through Neighbourhood Link.
Enforcement still continues in our current hot spots. While conducting targeted speed enforcement patrols on Swithland Lane, Rothley, officers located a stolen vehicle that had crashed at the roadside. Subsequent enquiries established that the vehicle had been reported shortly beforehand for being driven dangerously on Bird Hill, Woodhouse Eaves.
This proactive patrol work led to the Dedicated Neighbourhood Officer arresting three suspects on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, demonstrating a clear link between road safety activity and wider crime detection.

Throughout July, the NL56 Charnwood West Beat Team has continued to address concerns around speeding and road safety across the local area. Targeted speed enforcement activity was carried out following concerns raised by residents regarding vehicle speeds on Mountsorrel Lane, Rothley. During the operation, the vast majority of motorists were found to be complying with the 30mph speed limit, demonstrating generally good levels of driver awareness and responsible road use. However, two vehicles were detected travelling at 38mph and were subsequently stopped by officers and dealt with accordingly. Road safety remains a key priority for the team, particularly during the summer months when there is often increased traffic, more pedestrians and cyclists using the roads, and children spending more time outdoors during the school holidays. Officers will continue to monitor locations highlighted by the community and conduct enforcement and educational activity where appropriate. We would like to thank residents who continue to report concerns and provide information about speeding hotspots. Community feedback helps us identify areas requiring attention and supports our ongoing efforts to make the roads within Charnwood West safer for everyone who live, work and travel through the area.

The beat team aim to tackle incidences of ASB within the villages including the parks and beauty spots of Charnwood West utilising ASB and civil legislation and patrols in locations identified as subject to ASB.

Extensive work continues to tackle ASB on Kinchley Lane- the current top spot for ASB across Charnwood West. There is a significant increase in vehicle related ASB in the area, and the DNO team have been engaging with County Councils across the country as well as other police forces to seek inspiration on how to create long term solution for this issue. Patrols, intervention and engagement continue in the area as well as the surrounding villages to encourage those impact to report ASB online where possible.

Throughout July, the NL56 Charnwood West Beat Team has continued its efforts to address anti-social behaviour across the Charnwood West area, working to prevent issues from escalating and maintain community confidence. With schools breaking up for the summer holidays, the team is aware of the increase in reports that can occur during this period and has adjusted patrol activity accordingly, focusing on locations highlighted through community feedback and recent incidents. Officers have carried out targeted patrols in Quorn, Rothley, Woodhouse Eaves and surrounding villages, providing a visible presence in areas where concerns have been raised. During the month, reports have been received relating to young people kicking doors and deliberately starting small fires. These incidents are being actively followed up, with enquiries ongoing to identify those responsible and take appropriate action where offences have been committed. The team has also continued to engage with local residents, carry out follow up visits to victims, and utilise the incremental approach when dealing with repeat ASB offenders. Where appropriate, advice, warning letters and partnership interventions have been used to address behaviour at the earliest opportunity and prevent further incidents. Working alongside partner agencies remains a key part of our approach, ensuring that both enforcement and preventative measures are considered to achieve long term solutions. We would encourage residents to continue reporting anti-social behaviour and suspicious activity, as information provided by the community helps us identify trends, target patrols effectively and take positive action to keep our neighbourhoods safe throughout the summer months.

The beat team will deal with incidences of drug use and dealing across the beat area. Patrolling identified areas, utilising stop search powers where available and develop intelligence to allow us to target dealing within your area.

During this month both the beat team and local response officers have been responding to incidents and conducting searches on persons believed to be either in possession of or suspected of dealing cannabis. A seizure of cannabis was made from a vehicle on Kinchley Lane following a stop search, as well as a person search on Swithland Lane, Rothley resulting in cannabis seized.

Throughout July, the NL56 Charnwood West Beat Team has remained proactive in addressing drug-related issues across the beat area. A combination of high visibility patrols and plain clothes operations have been conducted in Quorn, Rothley, Swithland and Woodhouse Eaves, aimed at disrupting suspected drug activity, gathering intelligence and preventing associated anti-social behaviour. Officers have continued to work closely with partner agencies and specialist departments, developing intelligence to identify individuals involved in the use and supply of controlled substances and to target locations causing concern within the community. This intelligence-led approach has enabled focused activity in areas where reports and information indicate the greatest risk of harm. In partnership with Charnwood Borough Council, safeguarding visits were carried out at two addresses in Quorn following concerns regarding potential cuckooing. These visits form part of our ongoing commitment to protecting vulnerable residents from exploitation and ensuring that support is provided where needed. Tackling drug related crime remains a priority for the team, as such activity often has a wider impact on community safety, including anti-social behaviour, acquisitive crime and the exploitation of vulnerable people. We continue to encourage residents to report suspicious activity and share information with us, as community intelligence remains invaluable in helping us identify issues, take positive action and keep our neighbourhoods safe.
