This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.
Your Dedicated Neighbourhood Team (DNT) is a group of local police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.
We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Through the beat teams attendance at local Cllr ward meetings and other interaction with the community we have been informed that the parking situation on the St Peters Estate is a significant cause of upset and frustration to the community. This includes people parking to close to junctions, people parking on pavements and on zigzag crossings. This repeatedly leads to weekly bin collections not taking place due to lorries not being able to turn into some streets and causes children, disabled and parents with push chairs to have to go onto the road on occasion.

With this we intend on completing partnership work with the local fire service and traffic wardens to increase patrols and ensure we educate the community on the consequences of their parking, for example ambulances/police vans and fire trucks not being able to get to locations they need to. These patrols will include fixed penalty notices for obstruction and also traffic wardens giving tickets where their powers allow also.

There have unfortunately been multiple incidents over the past 4 months of serious violent crime on the St Matthews and St Peters Estate. These have led to thorough investigations by the beat team aided by our officers in CID. Your beat team have charged multiple people with weapons related offences over this period also and worked tirelessly to reduce violent crime by ensuring we're covering key areas in our patrol plan and ensuring by educating the community where possible through use of local radio station, online content and attendance at youth clubs and schools.
Issued 02 April 2025
We will continue to take robust action against anyone remotely involved in serious violent crime on the beat. We have a no tolerance approach to such behaviour and whilst we have seen a decrease in serious violence we will be continuing our engagements with the public, engagements in schools and youth clubs as well as working with other agencies to ensure there is opportunity for young people to become involved in useful projects where they will obtain skills to set them up for a positive future.

Police have identified through surveys that the St Matthews Estate is an area where we could improve our response to reports of anti-social behaviour.
Issued 02 April 2025
Your beat team will be conducting door to door surveys and consultation with the St Matthews estate over the next 90 days, with the intention of getting honest feedback from the community about how they feel the Police tackle anti-social behaviour on the estate and how the public can work with us in regards to this. In addition there will be opportunity to sign up to our monthly newsletter and a system called Neighbourhood Link where you'll receive this newsletter and other updates around what your beat team have been doing.
