I am Inspector Matt Allingham, I have been a police officer in Leicestershire since 2004. I have worked in a variety of roles across Leicester and Leicestershire in that time. I joined the job to protect people and prevent crime and 20+ years later that is still the reason I do this job. In the early part of my career this was mainly done by arresting people myself and getting them into court ... as an Inspector I now support and direct the officers and staff who do the arresting and investigating so that we can use our resources to give the best service we can to the people of Blaby.

I joined Leicestershire Police in 1991 and have had numerous roles within the Force.
I have been a Police Community Support Officer for several years where I have worked in teams covering the Hinckley Road and Braunstone Estate area.
My beat is Enderby, Narborough, Littlethorpe, Fosse park and New Lubbesthorpe . I work closely with the beat team and partner agencies to make the area a safe and pleasant area to live and work in.
Together the team aim to reduce crime and show a visible presence and attend local meetings, groups and events which I hope will provide reassurance to the general public and residents and help build a positive relationship with the police and their neighbourhood team.

The use and distribution of drugs around the beat area has been identified as a priority. This includes issues surrounding the use of drugs and incidents caused by drug use, and also the effects of drug dealing in the beat area.
Action taken:
The beat team receives reports about drug use and drug dealing from 999 and 101 calls, online reports and NHL surveys. These are then sent off for intelligence development and investigation by the beat team. We are actively conducting visits regarding illegal drug use around the beat.
We are currently addressing concerns relating to drug dealing and drug misuse within the local area. While we are unable to provide specific details we can confirm we have received intelligence regarding the supply of drugs on the beat and are taking appropriate action. -
Priority:
Anti-Social Behaviour involving the use of e-bikes, e-scooters in public spaces. This issue also covers rowdy and inconsiderate behaviours from individuals or groups in the area.
Action taken:
Reports of ongoing Anti social behaviour, regarding the underage drinking in and around Narborough park have continued. There will be a few operations coming up to tackle this, along with our Licensing team. PC Abby has been very busy with visits to certain premises and gathering as much evidence as we can to tackle this issue. As well as this we are also experiencing issues on Narborough park and Littlethorpe in relation to fires being set at the location. We have had some CCTV footage with clear pictures and lots of names have been put forward, in the coming weeks these young people will be visited and dealt with.

Road Safety issues we face across the beat include things like speeding, improper use of the highway such as anti-social driving, road traffic collisions (RTC) and driving without tax, MOT or insurance.
Action taken:
Reports of Motorbikes on Tay Road causing a nuisance, if you have any information where these may be coming from please let the beat team know , our details are on the police website.
